We had just finished buying some purses from the 'Long Neck' tribe and Liz wanted to go to an elephant camp. So we traveled to the nearest elephant camp. Fortunately, when the staff started bring out easels, I had our video camera and we took the video of the elephant painting the image of an elephant holding a flower.  Four months later, thinking that someone else might enjoy seeing this amazing event, we posted the ORIGINAL Elephant Painting on YouTube.  Within days there were more than 5 million views.

We then returned to Thailand with National Geographic where their crew did a video about us, our video, and the painting elephants.  That program is part of the The National Geographic program "Wild On Tape" now airing on the NGeo channel.

Watch this video of "Hong" and her mahout (trainer) as they collaborate to produce an wonderful image of an elephant holding a flower. It was amazing to see her retrace lines and add her playful personality to her work of art. She draws one or two flowers depending on her mood and when finished painting her flower, she presented a flower to a person of her choice.

Being so touched by their backgrounds and talents, we now support rescued elephants and sell their art through Exotic World Gifts. You could say, we support "Starving Elephant Artisans".
